The Snowman trek is the most difficult trek in Bhutan, because one has to walk and camp at high altitude for nearly three weeks. As long as one has no problems with the high altitude and the weather is good, it is not a particularly difficult trek. The Snowman Trek is an extension of the beautiful Laya Gasa Trek, and leads from Laya into high altitudes of the Bhutanese Himalayas. It takes tough and enduring trekkers into the Lunana region and further on to Gangkhar Puensum and Bumthang or down to Sephu in Trongsa district, depending on which route you choose. The Snowman trek leads through the most remote areas up to very high altitudes. Trekkers have to camp in altitudes above 5,000m more than once, and depending on the seasonal temperatures, the camps are sometimes on snow. This trip offers a rare opportunity to visit one of the most isolated communities in the world.

The Snowman Trek is frequently closed because of snow and is almost impossible during winter. The recommended season for this is mid-June to mid-October. On your arrival day in Kathmandu, You will be received by the representative staff from Himalayan TrailsTrekking & Climbing P Ltd with proper greeting. Then, afterward you will be transferred to hotel, After time to get refreshed then if you want more information regarding you trip you will meet and transfer to our office for briefing about your trip .In the evening Himalayan Trails Trekking & Climbing organizes an authentic Nepali welcome dinner with ethnic cultural entertainment and to know your guide and to talk about your trip. On day three after breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to airport and then flown to to Paro.

Our Journey begins Now Our journey begins in Paro with a hike to the Tiger’s Nest ,Takstang Monastery ,perched in the pine covered cliffs, one of Bhutan’s most photographed sites. Our Snowman trek begins following the Jhomolhari, Lingshi and Laya trekking routes, passing through some of Bhutan’s semi-nomadic regions and remote mountain villages. Jhomolhari is one of Bhutan’s most exquisite sacred peaks, bordering Bhutan and Tibet. From Jhomolhari base camp our trail parallels the Tibetan border as we head high into the Bhutan Himalayas, crossing the first of our many Himalayan passes, the Nyele La, to descend to remote Lingshi village. Our trail continues crossing Himalayan passes, with spectacular mountain views from the crests, following narrow ridges and steep-sided valleys until we reach Limithang (5000 m), the highest pass on the trek. From the Limithang we descend to the remote village of Laya, one of the largest and most unique mountain villages in Bhutan with its own style of dress and a very unique pointed hat worn by the women. Explore around the village. You can go and visit any of the houses around. By tradition one can go to any house without an invitation. A cup of tea or Chang (local drink) is always offered. The people in this village are very interesting with a unique dress, language and ornaments. Leaving the Laya Lingshi route, The trek continues following the river, rising gradually to Choejong village, Cross the bridge to reach Thanza camp 4,000m. walk up towards the left side of the bridge enjoying the views of the snow peak Mountains. Climb up ridge after ridge until you reach the camp at Tsorim at the altitude of 5, 150m. Walk on the side of the lake enjoying the panoramic views of the Gophula ranges.

Likewise, Nexts day is the rest day where you can enjoy the great view in Gangkar Puensum base camp. The path continues following shachu for two and a half hours until the stiff climb to Sakala begins. last pass of the trip (Juelela pass). From the stream it is along and steady climb again with great views of the mountains in Lunana. The path follows the Chamkhar Chu, descending gradually with few climbs. The trek ends when you arrive at Thimpu following by Dhur village, The capital city of Bhutan where you can explore the interesting points. Go around the streets to visit Memorial Chorten, always busy with devotees. See the main post office with the valuable Bhutanese stamps. Visit to small zoo, where national animal, the Takin is kept and Changankha Lhakhang, the oldest place of worship in Thimphu. Evening visit to Tashichho Dzong, seat of the King and government.
