Overview
Nagarjun Day Hiking, Nagarjun is Located in the western part of Kathmandu valley at an elevation of 2095 meters, Nagarjun hill is a two and half hours uphill and one and half hour downhill hike on the temperate slope of the hill. This trail is perfect for people who want to hike around Kathmandu Valley. Nagarjun Hiking Day Tour is one of the popular day hiking trips around Kathmandu Valley. The Nargajun hill is a part of Shivapuri National Park which is a home for numerous species of floras and faunas found in the region. Nagarjun Hiking is a perfect hiking destination in Kathmandu that acquaints you with the countryside lifestyle of people living in rural Nepal, numerous species of floras and faunas in the serene natural environment. People believe that Nagarjun came to this place and did hard meditation. With this belief, Buddhist and Hindu people give lots of importance to Nagarjun hill. Nowadays it is quite interesting also for the tourists as it keeps them away from the crowded Kathmandu city.
Nagarjun Day Hiking
The starting point of this trail is about one kilometer away from Balaju Bypass on the way towards Kakani. It is a part of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. If you are lucky, you could easily spot pheasants, deers, and monkeys on the way. You will be hiking under a canopy of forests until you reach the ridge, so the sun will not be hovering over you. The hill is famous for Buddhist Gompa, Sacred caves, and beautiful scenery. On top of the hill is a Buddhist Gompa where you can see and learn Buddhist ways of prayer and meditation. From the viewing tower at the top of the hill, you could see the widest mountain panoramas from the Annapurnas to Langtang Lirung. There are no settlements and shops on the way and you don’t find anything to eat along the trail. So we have to pack our lunch before going to the trek.

Drive to Balaju bypass (15 min) start hike to Nagarjun then return back to hotel
After having breakfast at hotel 30-minute drive through Raniban to the hiking point. After reaching there, guide will shortly introduce about the tails then we start our hike. The hike to the summit is quite steep, and one has to climb roughly a half-mile. On the way we will visit Buddha stupas, ancient caves, and Jamacho view point. From the top of Nagarjuna hill, enjoy the magnificent view including Langtang, Gaurishankar, Ganesh himal and other Himalayan ranges. Use the view tower to see magnificent panoramic views of the Kathmandu valley and the mountains on the northern side. The terrace of the Buddhist gompa also provides a good view of the southern, western and eastern parts of the valley. After lunch with good views of the Mountain View, we descend back through the same route as we had followed for going upwards and drive back to Kathmandu.
