Overview
Champa Devi Day hiking is an easy and enjoyable day hike in the southern hill of Kathmandu valley. Champa Devi is in the elevation of 2,180 meters above the sea level. This is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in the Hindu and Buddhist religions. Hence, walking through the lush pine forest on a well-developed trail is a really wonderful experience. Superb view of Langtang, Gauri Shankar, Jugal, Dorge Lakpa Himalayas are the major attraction of the hiking.
Above all, apart from it, we can observe the bustling Kathmandu city and spectacular village settlements from the top. Several return routes are possible. Aside from visiting the temples, you will get a wonderful opportunity to explore the countryside with authentic and traditional houses and local culture during the hiking. The southwestern rim of the Kathmandu Valley rears up in a prominent fishtail of twin peaks, the highest visible parts of the Chandragiri range. The eastern summit is known as Champadevi, after the resident goddess.
Champa Devi Day Hiking is as always most paradise with clear days
Hiking to Chapadevi starts with a 16 km drive south from Kathmandu for an hour to a place called Pharping. An ancient renowned city situated in the Southern Region of Kathmandu. From here start your hike gradually uphill for about half an hour. Continue hiking for about another 3 hours gradually uphill following the trail towards Champadevi. Most of the walk is along the ridge and offers a spectacular bird’s eye view of the Kathmandu valley.
Many Nepalese hikes all the way to the top of this hill to worship the famous Champa Devi goddess especially an April (Baishakh 1) (Nepali New Year). On this day-hike, you’ll be able to hike through forests and authentic Nepalese villages where you’ll meet some of the friendly locals. Likewise, From the top, you will have an amazing view of Langtang, Gauri Shankar, Jugal, Dorje Lakpa, and other snow-capped mountains. When you are leaving, the summit trail descends steeply down to the village of Champa Devi. It goes through the dense forest which is rich with birds and other wildlife.

Kathmandu - Drive to Pharping (01 Hrs) start hike to Champadevi then return back to Hotel
After having breakfast at your hotel we will give you short briefing about a trails. We will pack our lucnh and water bottle for this trail as there is no source of water during this hike so that we can have it on the way. Then we take a short 1 hour drive to Pharping village, a thriving Newari town which ancient Buddhist pilgrimage sites have been taken over by large numbers of Tibetans. On the way we pass though two important historical towns: Kritipur and Chovar. Including small lake called Taudaha. Taudaha Lake is one of the important sites for Bird watching. Around 40 species of birds have been recorded out of which 17 are residents, 2 are summer migrants and rest is winter migrants. From here it will take 30 min to reach Pharping .On reaching Pharping village, we start our stunning walk towards the Champa Devi Hill along the way of Pine forest. It takes about 3 hours to reach to the top, admire the superb natural surrounding along with Hindu shrine and stupa of the hill. Once we reach on the top we can get magnificent views of Langtang, Gauri Shanker, Jugal, Dorge Lakpa and many others. We will have our lunch admiring this natural beauty.
After exploring the beautiful area, walk back to the Pharping village. As the trial is mostly downhill it takes about 2 hours to get down. On arrival, catch our private vehicle and drive back to Kathmandu
